May.

I feel like I've just really settled in to a reading pattern this year. I didn't feel like I read all that much this month, but I still got through 7 books. So I guess it just become routine. Which is nice.
I am now at 35 books for the year so far. That is nearly double what I would usually read in a year. I think this is mostly just a sign that I have become more productive in my down time. Maybe not more productive, but I am watching less TV and that makes me feel good about myself.
Here is what I read this month:

  • Son of a Witch     (Gregory Maguire)     - This is the sequel to Wicked if you didn't put that together by the name and the author. I was given Wicked in a book that also had the sequel in it for a Christmas present years ago. I have been meaning to read it for ages.
  • Tess of the d'Urbervilles     (Thomas Hardy)     - I really enjoy Hardy's writing. I plan to read more of his books. This one was good! But a bit frustrating. It was basically an exercise in gender double standards of the late 1800's.
  • The Five People You Meet in Heaven     (Mitch Albom)     - I have heard a lot of talk about this book, it was nice to finally read it. It was not profoundly moving or life changing. But it was a interesting book.
  • Breakfast of Champions     (Kurt Vonnegut)    - I always love Vonnegut. This, however, was not one of my favourites. Still good, but he has much better ones.
  • Allegiant     (Veronica Roth)     - I already talked about this one too much. (here)
  • The Bell Jar     (Sylvia Plath)     - I talked a little bit about this one here. It ended much happier than I was thinking it would and it didn't leave me in a weird cloud of depression thoughts like I expected it might.
  • We Were Liars     (E Lockhart)     - I randomly borrowed this one from the library cause it had a cool title and it looked interesting. It was a quick read but I liked it. And the ending totally caught me off guard.
