I sprained my thumb on tuesday in basketball class. It was unfortunate. I hurt the same thumb over reading week, and it was feeling really good. Then just one stupid hard pass and there it goes again.
I'm not gonna lie though, it was kind of nice to not be able to do the circuit in fencing today. There is a lot of stuff in the circuits he makes us do that requires weight through the hand (like push-ups) which I cannot do. I could still fence, because it is my left hand that is hurt, but I didn't have to do any of the hard stuff. It was nice to have a day off.
And, of course I taped it good and tried to play my basketball game tonight. Which was nice, I got to continue my awful shooting streak. And on top of that, I got to guard this dirty, elbowy, jersey grabbing girl. Seriously, I thought I was done with that stuff when I finished playing high school girls basketball. She had my jersey balled up in her fist for a lot of the game, she rocked the arm pull a bunch under the basket, the box-out with a two handed jersey grab, and I even got a few shots to the face.
Basketball tends to bring out my most competitive side, and I spent the whole game convincing myself that she didn't deserve a swift elbow to the face. The refs knew her I think. They certainly weren't calling much. Anyways, I repeated to myself over and over that she didn't deserve a cheap shot or a hard foul just because she is a dirty player. AND, she left the game untouched. So, even though we lost and I sucked, I'm going to call this night a moral victory.
